Enrollment
Perry Technical Institute welcomes prospective applicants who are seeking education in one of the school’s 14 training programs. All applicants must have earned a high school diploma, General Education Development Certificate (GED), or recognized equivalent, and be at least 16 years of age. Age restrictions may vary for specific programs. Perry Technical Institute programs are considered full-time and run year-round.

Enrollment Procedures
To begin the enrollment process, applicants should contact an Enrollment Services representative at Perry Technical Institute in writing, by telephone, or through electronic means to request program information and to take a tour of the school programs:

Once applicants have completed a program tour and decided to apply, they should contact Enrollment Services to complete the following requirements to be enrolled into the program of their choice. Enrollment Services will review the application for enrollment and notify the applicant of all enrollment status updates in writing.

Enrollment Requirements

Complete a tour and submit a Perry Technical Institute application for enrollment.

Provide a copy of photo identification.

Provide proof of satisfactory completion of high school equivalent education.

Schedule and pass the enrollment assessment for programs that require it. Please see the Enrollment Assessment Requirements section for programs that require an assessment.

Provide proof of additional program specific requirements. Please see section below for program specific requirements.

Schedule an appointment to meet with Financial Aid staff to complete financial plan.

Pay a $100 registration fee to secure a seat in an available start date.

Attend mandatory new student orientation.

Sign an enrollment agreement.
Automotive Technology program applicants must provide a three-year driving abstract and have a valid driver’s license. Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technology program applicants must have a valid driver’s license. Medical Assistant program applicants must successfully pass a criminal background check. Professional Truck Driving program applicants must be 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and provide a five-year driving abstract, and proof of a completed medical examiner’s report and pre-employment drug screening from a FMCSA approved medical examiner. Driving abstracts expire after six months.
Perry Tech enrolls students based on the date their registration fee is paid. Students requesting to be placed on the waiting list for a term that is full at the time of payment will be enrolled for the next available start date and added to a waiting list for all requested earlier start dates. Students who request a change in enrollment date after paying the registration fee will be charged a $50 term change fee. Candidates will confirm they have already received a course catalog or will receive one at the time of acceptance to Perry Technical Institute.

Enrollment Assessment Requirements
All applicants in the Electrical Technology, Information Technology & Communication Systems, and Instrumentation, Automation & Robotics Technology, must pass an enrollment assessment before they can enroll. The Medical Office Administration and Coding program will have both a computer literacy assessment and a distance learning readiness assessment. Assessment requirements vary by program. Housing
The school does not provide housing for students. Subject to availability, dorm accommodations are available on the Yakima Valley College campus for eligible students. Information on rental units and dorm accommodations may be obtained from Enrollment Services or at perrytech.edu/students/resources/housing/.
Transfer of Credit Policy
Due to the unique occupational nature of the courses offered at Perry Technical Institute, transfer credits from other post-secondary institutions are not accepted.
The transferability of credits earned at Perry Technical Institute is at the discretion of the receiving college, university, or other educational institution. Students considering transferring to any institution should not assume that credits earned in any program of study at Perry Technical Institute will be accepted by the receiving institution. Similarly, the ability of a degree, certificate, diploma, or other academic credential earned at Perry Technical Institute to satisfy an enrollment requirement of another institution is at the discretion of the receiving institution. Accreditation does not guarantee credentials or credits earned at Perry Technical Institute will be accepted by or transferred to another institution. To minimize the risk of having to repeat coursework, students should contact the receiving institution in advance for evaluation and determination of transferability of credits and/or acceptability of degrees, diplomas, or certificates earned.
Articulation Agreements
A partnership between Perry Technical Institute and Lower Columbia College will provide graduates with the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science – Organizational Leadership & Technical Management (BAS-OLTM) degree.
Graduates of an eligible program at Perry Technical Institute may transfer into LCC’s BAS-OLTM program with the following understanding:
1. Candidates must have completed one of the following eligible PTI programs:
a. Electrical Technology
b. Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditions & Regrigeration Technology
c. Instrumentation, Automation & Robotics Technology
d. Information Technology & Communication Systems
e. Business Technology & Accounting
2. Candidates must complete the following LCC course prerequisites:
a. ENGL& 101 (5 credits)
b. MATH& 107 or higher excluding MATH& 131 (5 credits)
c. Natural Science elective with Lab (5 credits)
3. Candidates must have a cumulative college GPA of 2.5 or greater.
4. Candidates must complete LCC applications and financial aid materials.
