Enrollment

Perry Technical Institute welcomes prospective applicants who are seeking education in one of the school’s training programs. All applicants must have earned a high school diploma, General Education Development Certificate (GED), or a recognized equivalent education, and be at least 16 years old. Perry Technical Institute programs are considered full-time and run year-round.

Enrollment Procedures

To start the enrollment process, potential students should contact an Enrollment Services representative at Perry Technical Institute through written communication, phone, or electronic methods. They can request program information and schedule a tour of the school's offerings.

After prospective students have completed a program tour and decided to apply, they should get in touch with Enrollment Services to fulfill the specific requirements for their chosen program. Enrollment Services will review the application and send written updates to the applicant regarding their enrollment status.

Enrollment Requirements

  1. Complete a tour and submit a Perry Technical Institute application for enrollment.

  2. Provide a copy of an approved form of photo identification.

  3. Provide proof of high school completion or equivalent education.

  4. Schedule and pass your entrance assessment, if required for your program. Please see the Enrollment Assessment Requirements section below. 

  5. Provide proof of additional program specific requirements. Please see section below for program specific requirements.

  6. Schedule an appointment to meet with Perry's Financial Aid Team and complete a Financial Planning Session.

  7. Pay a $100 registration fee to secure a seat in an available start date.

  8. Attend mandatory new student orientation.

  9. Sign an enrollment agreement.

 

Automotive Technology program applicants must provide a three-year driving abstract and have a valid driver’s license. Driving abstracts expire after six months. Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technology program applicants must have a valid driver’s license. Construction & Carpentry Technology program applicants must provide proof of a valid driver’s license. Medical Assistant program applicants must successfully pass a criminal background check.

 

Perry Technical Institute enrolls students based on the date their registration fee is paid. Students will be contacted according to their enrollment date when a seat becomes available for an earlier start date. Students who request a change in enrollment date after paying the registration fee will be charged a $50 term change fee. Candidates will confirm that they have already received a copy of the course catalog or will receive one upon acceptance from Perry Technical Institute.

Enrollment Assessment Requirements

Perry Technical Institute requires prospective students to pass an enrollment assessment in the Electrical Technology, Information Technology & Communication Systems, Instrumentation, Automation & Robotics Technology, Construction & Carpentry Technology, and Medical Office Administration & Coding programs to enroll. Housing

The school does not provide housing for students.  Subject to availability, dorm accommodations are available on the Yakima Valley College campus for eligible students.  Additional information regarding housing may be obtained from Student Success or at perrytech.edu/students/resources/housing/.

Transfer of Credit Policy

Due to the unique occupational nature of the courses offered at Perry Technical Institute, transfer credits from other post-secondary institutions are not accepted.

The transferability of credits earned at Perry Technical Institute is at the discretion of the receiving college, university, or other educational institution. Students considering transferring to any institution should not assume that credits earned in any program of study at Perry Technical Institute will be accepted by the receiving institution. Similarly, the ability of a degree, certificate, diploma, or other academic credential earned at Perry Technical Institute to satisfy an enrollment requirement of another institution is at the discretion of the receiving institution. Accreditation does not guarantee credentials or credits earned at Perry Technical Institute will be accepted by or transferred to another institution. To minimize the risk of having to repeat coursework, students should contact the receiving institution in advance for evaluation and determination of transferability of credits and/or acceptability of degrees, diplomas, or certificates earned.

A partnership between Perry Technical Institute and Lower Columbia College will provide graduates from articulated programs with the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science – Organizational Leadership & Technical Management (BAS-OLTM) degree.
